What is Sex Coaching?
Sex coaching is a lot like other forms of coaching only we focus on your goals and dreams within your erotic life. Coaching sessions generally run between 45-60mins and in that time we will discuss your current goals and hopes and shape a plan to achieve that goal. Like an athletic coach, clients will have at-home work and will share, as much as they like, their progress as they follow the plan and path we have laid out together. Coaching is a journey and is not, necessarily, a one-time event. Clients might find that several sessions are required in order to reach a goal or change a pattern. I am here as a “guide on the side,” working with you as you navigate the ebbs and flows that take place within a process.
The process is, perhaps, the most important thing to remember when you begin coaching. Together, we are embarking on a journey toward a sexual and sensual life of your dreams and that can take time, can involve some challenges, but is wildly worth the effort. The key is to identify what you are struggling with in your intimate life, right now, that you would like to change or reimagine. Or, you may want to begin thinking about something you want to try or something that you crave but have been too shy or ashamed to admit or express. So much of our erotic life is predicated on cultural narratives and sensations of shame, guilt, and fear. Coaching is focused on supporting you as you step into your own power and confidently grasp ahold of the sexual life you desire, whether you are coupled or single, that comes from within.
Coaching is not therapy, however. Coaching, specifically, takes the stance where you arrive to the coaching space as a whole and perfect being. We are not there to excavate your past or analyze why you are feeling a certain way about sex: our time together is focused on action and laying the groundwork for a fulfilling sexual life wherever you are in your journey right now. Where you are does matter, and we will chat about that, but where you want to go is far more central to the conversation. As an example, if a couple is experiencing little or no sex in their relationship, the coaching space would be focused on action steps to move the couple from that experience into a more fulfilling and mutual sexual life. Indeed, in this instance, the couple may benefit from working with both a couples’ therapist and a sex coach, targeting both the “how we got here” and also “where we go from here.”
